Webinar Series German-Norwegian Energy Dialogue 2020: Ramping up CCS in European Industry

German and Norwegian energy markets are closely inter-linked, and the effort to create an internal European energy market will contribute to a further deepening of this relationship. How can Norway and Germany benefit from a deepening of ties in the energy sector? Which technologies will prosper in an energy market in continuous transformation? The German-Norwegian Energy Dialogue is an arena for dialogue on the most important developments within the German-Norwegian energy cooperation. In cooperation with our German and Norwegian partners, we invite industry representatives, politicians and organizations from both countries to take part in the discussion on the potential for bilateral energy cooperation, as well as to share ideas and knowledge on market and technology developments.

This year’s energy dialogue will take place as a webinar series throughout the spring and autumn of 2020 and will cover the whole range of bilateral energy cooperation. The different webinars will focus on how Norway and Germany can meet national and EU-wide climate commitments by strengthening bilateral energy cooperation in politics, business and research. We will discuss the effects of COVID-19 on energy markets as well as how Europe should kickstart its economy in order to recover from the economic downturn, without losing sight of the climate targets. Further, if Europe is serious about its 2050 net-zero pledge, greater efforts are needed to decarbonize energy intensive industries. Which role could and should both hydrogen and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies play?

Lastly, offshore wind stakeholders are invited to discuss how Norway and Germany can cooperate on technology development and innovation, with an aim to target areas of mutual interest and to establish bilateral partnerships on innovation projects.
